Is this Graphics Card Good Enough For Dolphin

Because the stock cooloer is designed to also work with much higher wattage parts than an OC'd G3258, depending on how you faired in the silicon lottery, you can probably expect something around 4.5 GHz. It might go higher or not as high.

So, I was off work today as MLK day is a holiday where I work.  I called Microcenter and they got the MB in stock this morning (32 of them).  So I rushed off and picked one up.  While I was there I picked up almost all my other components as well.  I decided to hold off on the H80i since EVERYONE told me it wasn't necessary.  If it turns out not to be true I can add it later (and sue everyone here ;-))  So, this is what everything will come out to AFTER rebates (I better make sure I send 'em in):

g3258/z97 MB - $90
EVGA 600W PSU - $45
EVGA GTX 660 - $120
Case (w/four fans) - $40
Memory (haven't bought yet) - $51
Total - $346 + Tax

I have a hard drive and DVD drive so I didn't include those.  So, now I feel this is a pretty good price for a system to play games via Dolphin.  The Cooler Master EVO 212 is too tall for my case.  If I use the stock cooler what do you think I can OC it to?  I don't know what the recommended settings for Dolphin are as far as OC'ing. Now I just have to assemble everything without !@#$ing it up.

And to think you said you were going to originally spend around $600 for that build. And those admins are saying that I'm dumb lmfao. Around $300 is what I said I would pay for your build because $300 is the supposed to be the right price for it lmfao. I already have ddr3 ram and all that from like 5 years ago so it would only cost about $120 for the cpu and mobo. That's why I said I would only pay around $200 at first. Don't get yourself ripped off when you are buying new builds. I used to own a 212 and it is way too tall. Get the T4, T2, or vortex. Overclocking just bump up the multiplier in bios or almost all the motherboards come with software to overclock. Not going to get into upping voltage and all that you will have to do your own research.

You're the same guy who just suggested that somebody buy a cooler and OC an i3-2100 instead of upgrading their rig. I rest my case.

Use your damn brain, you already had half of the components needed, of course your build is going to be cheap.

Rebates are always nice to find, though it can take FOREVER for you to actually get them sometimes so I never include them in any type of pricing. It's one of those things you get a few months later after you already forgot and say "Thank you past self!" lol. Biggest money saver was ditching the water cooler but I wasn't going to tell you not to get something that you wanted. Main reason your original build was good was because it was good to go for an upgrade to a high end processor, something that Mr Nice Guy up there failed to realize.

Yes youre right I didnt research it cause I don't mess with dual cores. But you see he could of just went into the bios and saw that he could only get an extra 100 mhz and then if that didn't cut it he could upgrade to the 3570k . So whatever nigga. And Oh yeah even if I didn't have half the stuff I still wouldn't fucking pay 600 for that dual core which I already explained. and the OP redid his thing and he saved himself what 250 fucking dollars and the admins were saying im dumb because I saved him 200 fucking dollars.

I was only able to do like 4.3 or 4.4 with stock cooler. I just built the same mobo/cpu combo for a friend at work. That bios is nice and easy to use.

Did you use the OC Genie in the BIOS? I see when I clicked that it jumps it to 4.3. I haven't run a stress test on it so I don't know if it will be stable. If you didn't use the OC Genie, do you have a good tutorial link? I've found varying ones that do it fairly quick and other that would have me running tests for days (kicking the proc up 100 Mhz at a time between each test). 10 rounds of testing to OC 1Ghz? Seems like overkill to me. But what do I know? That's why I'm asking stuff here.

I would avoid onboard software overclocking as it tends to run hotter and use more volts than you need, my oc gene wants to run my 4790k at almost 1.4v for 4.5 where it will run at 1.2 or less.

Decent older thread I reference occasionally, don't quite know about the g3258.
