I need to overclock. I have a Asrock extreme tuning utility Can I use this utility to overclock? If so what do I need to do to run up the CPU? The Asrock extreme tuning utility looks like this http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Motherboard...-Tuning-Ut
Cerci, you forgot the K suffix in your profile specs.
The 2500K is easy to overclock. All you have to do is raise the multiplier and manually adjust the vcore to keep it running stable. I'd also recommend doing it via the BIOS. Warning: Do not play with the vcore and set it to ridiculous values such as 1.5v or higher. Doing so is on own risk! I run my 2500K @ 4.5GHz with 1.26v. You can try to match my settings. If it boots, and runs stable, great. You can then try to lower the vcore incrementally and see how low you can get for it to stay stable. There are some things you have to change in the BIOS before you overclock though. For one, turn off the Turbo Boost. Lastly, I recommend you to read some guides on overclocking the SB CPU's. The guide probably uses a different motherboard and CPU, but it should be very similar. Different motherboards use different terminology, so look in the guide for the different terms. Thanks Garteal.
So I want to begin with 4.0GHz. The only thing that I need to do is than put the CPU ratio at 40. Wiggle the CPU core voltage for stability. Correct me if i'm wrong? Where can I turn off the Turbo boost in the bios? |
