Ok, first of all, I'm aware of the issues that may arise from trying to netplay VBA-M and Dolphin at the same time, and I'm not asking for some crazy implementation just for a couple games.
But so long as I'm in Netplay mode, even without anyone else connected, Dolphin completely ignores my controller port settings and just uses a standard GCN pad. This means I can't even play by myself using a GBA selected.
I have everything set up to work so long as I'm not hosting, so I'm wondering if there's any functional difference here that would prevent this from working in netplay with only my own input selected.
As in, could a build easily be made with GBA controls toggled on for netplay, ignoring all sync issues, crashes, etc. that would very likely result from clients attempting to use VBA-M themselves? Whatever the reason why you absolutely cannot use GBA in netplay, does it also prevent just the host from hogging all four slots and using GBAs?
Basically, what I want to do is play a GBA controlled GCN game while optionally "broadcasting" via netplay at 60fps in real time without anyone else's input. Essentially playing by myself online.
This might possibly allow for players to connect their VBA-M via LAN tunneling to communicate with a single instance of Dolphin (the host) while watching the gameplay on their own computers with their own instance of Dolphin instead of through a video streaming service.
