My PC monitor runs at 75Hz which is fine and dandy for normal desktop usage, but as someone sensitive to telecine judder, things can become judder-fest in Dolphin since most NTSC GameCube/Wii games ran at 30 or 60 fps - two numbers that totally don't go into 75 very well.

Currently I have to manually change my refresh rate to 60Hz before launching Dolphin and then set it back to 75Hz once I'm done.  That's...kind of annoying, especially since automatically changing the resolution/refresh rate is in fact a big reason why I use MPC-HC for nearly all video playback (even for YouTube and twitch).

So is there any way Dolphin can specifically use 60Hz (it's OK if this only applies to fullscreen), or at the very least if there's any way to automate the refresh rate changing process via a 3rd party program?  (presumably there's a fancy-pants way of doing this through scripts on Linux, but I'm still using Windows 7 at the moment).

DISCLAIMER: I realize this would all be a non-issue if I just used either a g/free/adaptive-sync monitor or got a display capable of native 120Hz input.

I already created a feature request for something like this here https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/10227 Smile

Hah, go figure - yeah that's pretty much the kind of thing I'm looking for.

BTW, even without HDMI 2.0, you can actually get 60Hz at 3840x2160 - just use 4:2:0 chroma (I cannot guarantee that the TV will actually be able to handle it though).

Note that font anti-aliasing in the Dolphin GUI can look weird with 4:2:0 chroma unless you specifically set your OS to use "greyscale" anti-aliasing instead.

Can you explain to me how to do this? I have NVidia Optimus, thus the output of the screen is handled by my Intel HD 4600 iGPU and as far as I know my 870m doesn't really do this because I have almost no access to my card's driver?

Oh...yeah, you might be out of luck.

However, it's possible that the Intel driver might automatically switch to 4:2:0 chroma if you make and use a custom resolution of 3840x2160 @ 60Hz since the HD 4600 only supported up to HDMI 1.4 anyway.

Oh too bad, if I try to make this specific resolution it just tells me that there is not enough bandwidth available

Really?  You're using CRU (custom resolution utility), right?  I say this because I've never seen a "not enough bandwidth available" message in all the years I've been using the program - that message sounds more like something you'd get when trying to make a custom resolution directly via the Intel graphics control panel.

Agreed with Nintendo Maniac 64. That's NOT a message coming from Dolphin. I've never seen, nor heard of anyone else, getting that message
