Is there a way to automatically switch to 16:9 on select GC titles?

Having aspect ratio as auto in the graphics properties always result in my GC games running at 4:3 and it doesn't know when to switch to 16:9. I wish they would add a widescreen option under GC game properties instead of just Wii and WiiWare titles.

There are plenty of gamecube games that natively support widescreen (F-Zero, Starfox Adventures, Geist, etc).
