I don't pirate, but I no longer own a Wii or GC. Before I purchase games to rip to iso I want to know if I would be able to do that on a Hp CDDVDW SH-216BB ATA Device. I know some drives aren't compatible. Could someone clarify if my drive would be compatible?

Most of them are incompatible , only a few drives work.
Here is a list for rawdump :
https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-ho...wii-needed
and a list for friidump
Quote:Currently supported drives are:
- LG GDR-8161B (untested, but should work)
- LG GDR-8162B (ditto)
- LG GDR-8163B (HL-DT-ST/DVD-ROM GDR8163B)
- LG GDR-8164B (HL-DT-ST/DVD-ROM GDR8164B)

Other drives might work, most likely those based on the Hitachi MN103
microcontroller. If you find any of them, please report so that they can be
added to the compatibility list.

A used Wii is only about $20 , controller and sensor bar included . You will need them in a few games . Drives that support fiidump and rawdump are expensive and only available on ebay (or amazon if you're lucky) , you will need to buy sensor bar and controller eventually

Whats a cheap Wii/ GC game that goes dirt cheap so I can test without wasting alot of money?Wii/GC Zelda and mario games are usually $30-40 used. Don't want to waste money for it not to work. Also, can GC discs fit in drive? Also, why only a select few drives that work? Are they really expensive drives?

Depending on where you live . All used Wii games are dirt cheap in Japan (less than 1 dollar)
I could buy tons of them for like $50

If your drive isn't on the list, then it isn't going to work. Buying games to test with is pointless.

Okay thanks anyway. I'll just stick with Zelda alternatives already on Steam such as Beyond Good and Evil and Oceanhorn. Also, will stick with Mario alternatives such as Psychonauts, Rayman games, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, and the upcoming Yooka-Laylee (banjo kazooie spiritual successor) developed by ex-rare.

Seriously to hell with Nintendo. Nintendo is overpriced, for both their old and new games. Even the 3DS has older games at $40-50. Seriously, and now they want everyone to "Switch" because their last product sucked. For what? The same ol' games. Give me a break Nintendo. Since I don't pirate I tried to go to the legal route via Dolphin, but turns out my drive won't work. Oh well, the older games I was looking at were pretty expensive anyway. No wonder people pirate. Still, not going that route. I like owning stuff because I'm more tempted to finish.

I'm done.
