Hey guys,

I was wondering if you could help me distinguish whether my computer is not high-end enough or is that dolphin has not progressed enough yet?

Here are my specs:

Processor: Intel Core i5-650
3.20GHz, 4MB Cache
Memory: 6GB Dual-Channel 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
64 bit machine

Video card: XFX GT240 1gb ddr5
Hard Drive: 1TB (7200 RPM) SATA

Super Mario Galaxy runs great, 60fps most of the time until graphically intensive areas like the opening scene or the observatory or certain boss battles.
I brought this up since I see videos of people playing Metroid Other M with 60fps or Epic Mickey with 30fps and I follow the settings they post yet don't get the same speeds.

I am using build 6561(64 bit version) at the moment. Which leads me to another question, is it that critical to update every day?

If the fact that Mario Galaxy runs well for you didn't seal the deal for you, your PC is fine. Depending on the revision you're using and the settings, you may be able to get a bit more fps at times. Try newer and older revisions and see if there is any difference for you.

Ok thanks! There is a lot though haha, is there any builds that the community found are the "best" or generally show improvement across the board?

Some people have other ideas, but I personally use r6000 and r6500, but they might not work well for the games you want to play. Dolphin isn't perfect and the slowdowns and other issues are being worked on, but it takes time. I'd recommend trying the builds I mentioned and the newest build as of right now ( r6600).

A few other things may get you some more speed:

1) Use the DX9 video plugin
2) Use efb copy to texture
3) Lower your AA
4) Turn off audio throttle in the dsp options
5) This may not help you, but change efb scale from fractional and set it to 2 or 1

alright thanks, i will try those suggestions. oh side note, where are the save files for your wii games stored? If I want to play in a newer build with my old saves, it would be great.

Copy over your entire "user" file, that way you can also keep your GC saves, all the dolphin settings and the game cache.
