Question
I plan on building a new computer soon and wanted to know if it would be able to play most games full speed at 1080p, efb scale x2 with ssaa x4, x16 AF, all hacks off (except XFB), and EFB copy to RAM with cache enabled (only on games like SMS and NSMBW).
Here are the spec.
Athlon II x4 640 OC'd to 3.3 ghz
2x2 GB of ddr3 ram in dual mode @ 1616 MHz: purchased
Ati HD 5670 1GB
Windows 7 64-bit: someone was suppose to give one to me for free >.>: purchased
_________________________________________________

I decided to upgrade a little

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 OC'd to 3.535GHz: purchased
Graphics: 5830 1GB OC'd to 880/1100: purchased

I would grab a Phenom II 720 instead of an Athlon II 640 if I were you. Or if you have the money, an i3 540.

It's what? $20 more? Just save up for the 720.

Because it has a large L3 cache. Dolphin doesn't give a crap about number of cores. The larger cache will help improve performance per clock in dolphin.

i have almost the exact same specs, and i have to say i am very pleased with performance......and i can play lower-level games (ex. New Super Mario Bros. Wii) full speed at 720p but i can only play smg and smg 2 at full speed at a low resolution.

Checkout my latest project ( it is a program that downloads and compiles dolphin on mac and linux now): http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu-downloader (It's unofficial and maintained by me, not the dolphin dev team)
