As the title says, I'm wondering if there is a way to allow midi controllers to be bound to keys in dolphin?
As a specific example (and I suppose partially to ask if anyone has solutions to this particular matter) I was attempting to play the wii versions of guitar hero on dolphin using my Roland V-drum set as input for the drum peripheral by binding certain midi tones from each v-drum trigger to activate the related wii-drumset key binds in dolphin. And by extension, if midi controllers aren't currently natively supported by dolphin, may they be added in a future update? (for reference as to what "future" refers to, and to provide insight to whether or not I am short on a dev version that is compatible, I am currently using the stable release 4.0.2)

Just posting some notes on the issue after trying some potential workarounds.
I first tried glovePIE, however it doesn't seem to detect input from midi controllers in it's current version. Upon inspection I found other people have had similar problems (albeit with different midi controllers), meaning glovePIE is currently an inadequate tool to translate. I've tested that my harddware is actively transmitting the MIDI signal using both MIDI-OX and Bome's Midi Translator classic. In regards to Bome's, the translation instructions worked in simple applications like notepad, but did not work in dolphin (either during game or within the controller config screen). I'd read that Bome's doesn't work on any application that uses Direct Input, but I figured it was worth a try anyway.

Hi Cevune, any news on this topic? did you find a workaround? I've been looking into it as well with no luck. I have a Roland TD9 myself, about to give up and forget about Rock Band or Guitar Hero and move on to Phase Shift. Does Dolphin even support emulation for the Mad Catz Rock Band Pro MIDI adapter? Guitar Hero may allow a player to use a regular gamepad (which allows easier mapping) but Rock Band does not; I'm guessing Dolphin would have to virtualize the Mad Catz adapter first in order to route MIDI from IO into Dolphin.

Unfortunately not. Dolphin only supports guitar and drum controllers for Guitar Hero, not any Rock Band instruments or accessories, and no microphones.

Actually, I just tried the MPA (MIDI Pro Adapter) using what this article says, and it works! It might also works with the keyboard and mustang dongles, or the simple 5 button guitar and stuff.

I can finally play pro keys/bass on dolphin!!!

Indeed, the ability to connect a Rock Band MIDI adapter and use it like on a real console has actually been in Dolphin for some time. Like the article says, nobody was really aware of it until 2016. I don't think this is what the original poster was asking for, though.

It gives him alternatives though, if there are ION brains for Wii he could potentially use that also.
