There is no such thing like "optimization for AMD CPU" . "Dolphin is a dual core application" is the main reason why Dolphin does not run well on AMD CPU
Rather than making CPU run faster . All these years , AMD made CPU run slower . The worst CPU architecture of AMD is probably Bulldozer (FX-8150 , FX-6100 , FX-4100...) . Bulldozer FX-8150 has more cores than Phenom II x6 but each core is slow ...even slower than Phenom (You can check single-threaded benchmark or Dolphin benchmark on our site) . Most emulator don't care how many cores your CPU has , Dolphin is one of them .
Latest Dolphin run games faster than older dolphin revision , that's why you see an improvement . Not only for AMD CPU but also for Intel CPU as well .
With A10 6790k (Piledriver) @5.0GHz , I can play most games full speed except some demanding games like TLS . The cheaper Haswell dual core G3258 @ 4.6GHz ($65) is almost twice as fast as Quad Core A10 6790k @ 5.0GHz in Dolphin ....
Anyway , If you're satisfied with your CPU then you should not bother to upgrade
