Is it possible to play games that were released as apps on Dolphin?

Lots of homebrew doesn't support Wiimotes at all, and you have to use a GameCube controller. Are you sure it isn't doing what it would on a Wii?

Yes, because back when i used to play it on my Wii i used a wiimote.
