Is it possible to play games that were released as apps on Dolphin?

That makes no sense, games don't write their savefiles to SD cards. The card would have to exist and be formatted correctly before anything attempted writing to it.

Probably explains why i just played a Wii game on both versions with the box ticked and made sure to do a save and still nothing. I found this youtube vid -

Run the game (go to file->open and select the boot.dol file). It will probably crash but should create the sd.raw file. Then follow the instructions for using OSFMount.

Thank you so much man!! I followed what you said there and it crashed but it also finally AT LAST created an sd.raw file!!! I then followed JosJuice's instructions about OSFMount (thanks too btw) and managed to turn the sd.raw file into an actual drive which does show up on my PC, however i'm not sure what to do now. As i'm guessing you probably know when dealing with apps on the Homebrew Channel of an original Wii, first you made a folder called apps then inside of that a folder with the name of the app and then inside of that there would be a boot.dol file, an icon file, a game.dat file, a meta file and an intro.dat file.

What do i do now? Do i copy the whole apps folder over, or just the folder with "Pissed" written on it or just those files that were in the Pissed folder? And then after i've done whatever i'm supposed to do there how do i get it running on Dolphin?

I don't know how Pissed's installation process works specifically, and its instructions didn't exactly make it clear where to put the data files, but there's a general rule to follow: do it just like you would with a real console. If placing the Pissed folder in the apps folder worked on your Wii, then it should work in Dolphin too. (Copying boot.dol, the icon and the metadata isn't technically necessary when using Dolphin, but you might as well do it, because they won't affect anything negatively. The data files are the only ones that actually are needed.) Once you've copied the files over and dismounted the drive, place boot.dol somewhere on your computer. It doesn't matter where, and you can rename it to whatever you want. To launch the game, press the Open button in Dolphin and select the DOL file.

It's still possible it won't work even with the data directory copied to the SD card. When libfat is initialized it changes the current working directory based on argv[0] passed to the program, so if an app is started from HBC it doesn't need to manually CD to /apps/program_name/. Dolphin doesn't pass any arguments to the program (and doesn't allow booting from the SD card anyway), so the app has to be able to locate the directory on its own.

I tried exactly what you said mate (on both versions) and both times the opening screen came up and then just froze and then this came up -

Passing the program's directory using argv[0] does sound simpler than fixing the HBC, but I don't know if/when it will be fixed.

Homebrew games require a few specific settings. First, you need to use LLE audio like the message says. Many homebrew games also require enabling Real XFB if you want to get any video output, but I don't know if this is one of them. If it's possible to run the game without Real XFB, you should do so, because otherwise you can't run the game above native resolution. If it still freezes with both of these settings enabled, there's probably something else wrong. It's possible that the problem tueidj mentioned can prevent you from playing the game.

There is another option besides implemented args in Dolphin or fixing HBC: use a different homebrew app to load it from the SD card.

Hello again friend Wow it's been awhile since we discussed this subject huh? Had given up on Dolphin altogether for awhile because it just wasn't working with my shitty old PC... however a mate of mine who's really good with PC's (which i'm not) fully cleaned it up, put a more compatible OS on it and just generally got rid of all the bad stuff on there that i got from watching too much Oprah Winfrey porn lol.

Anyhoo just outta curiosity lately i decided to give this another chance and apart from the cleaned-up PC, i see the developers at Dolphin have REALLY made some leaps and bounds and compatibility with alot of games is FAR better now than back in April!! Again just out of curiosity i also tried this thing here again following your instructions step-by-step and guess what? IT ACTUALLY FUKING WORKS NOW!!!!!!!

Having said that (there's always a minor issue) yes it does work and runs great... BUT... for some reason now the friggen wiimote won't work with it at all *facepalm* I don't know why because it does with all my other Wii games... i even exited out of this when it wouldn't work and my wiimote was still synced so i just immediately opened the first Wii game i saw in the list and it worked fine. Just to be sure i then exited out of that game and opened up the next Wii game in the list and again it worked fine. For some reason everything is finally working except... for some reason... the wiimote just won't work with this homebrew title Any suggestions?
