Is it normal my pc gets hot?

Hello everyone , I've been using dolphin for quite a while now and it's really great, i've switched from playing pc games to playing emulated games. I know emulated games are quite a bit more demanding than standard games designed for pc especially on the CPU, and when I play on the emulator and I touch the top part of my pc where the air outtakes are, it's quite hot (nothing so far as to not being able to touch it because of how hot it is) but nevertheless it is fairly hot and I wanted to know if I should be worrying about this. My pc has 2 cooling fans as of now and when playing emulated games my CPU usage goes to around 48-50%, should I be worried or is this normal?

Define "hot". Run RealTemp or CoreTemp and see what your operating temps are when playing Dolphin. Could you be more specific about what model your fans are as well (knowing the RPM might be useful too). If you have two fans (and they're good and doing their job) you shouldn't see it going up too high, especially not into the dangerous range (nearing 100 degress Celsius).

One of the fans is the stock fan that the i5 3570k comes with and the other one is a fan that came with the pc case (thermaltake msi snow edition), i just ran realtemp and the temperature is ranging at around 74-79 degrees celsius when the emulation is running. The CPU fan is running at 1945 RPM and the other one is running at 989 RPM

You may try to speed up your fans (if your CPU hits over 80 degrees, you will be sure it´s near to get damaged). But, it depends on your CPU (clock speed, technology used in it) because some CPUs can handle higher temperatures than other ones. And for the usage, it depends in the number of cores that are being used and the number of processes that are running in your system. It´s not like "the end of the world", but you should care a lot with a problem like this.

80+ degress Celsius, while not ideal, still should be a safe operating range for the i5 3570K, iirc. 90+ degrees Celsius, however, is a clear sign to stop whatever you're doing. Your CPU shouldn't be able to boil water (and yes, we've actually seen some people hit 100C while running Dolphin) :S

Regardless, you'll always want to keep temps as low as possible, and 80+ degrees Celsius is considered on the high side. linker357, have you OC'ed any, or are you using Turbo Boost? If so, try scaling back your OC or disabling Turbo Boost until you can either manually increase the RPM of your fans, or get new cooling.

No I have never OC'ed nor used Turbo Boost. What I just did was this: I unplugged and opened up my pc, cleaned some dust that one of the air intakes at the bottom had, and placed the fan that was at the bottom at the top of the case so it would take air out rather than take it in. Now running RealTemp I'm getting temperatures of 66-69-75 degrees celsius more or less so I guess it's an improvement? Also the fans are running at a slower speed now ( The main cpu fan being at 1644RPM and the secondary fan being at 900RPM) I guess it's because they don't sense the CPU as hot as before.

EDIT:
I think I just realized how RealTemp works, when i open it it says the temperature of each core but it also says CPU: 59C so.. that's my real CPU temperature?

Did you disable Turbo Boost in Bios ?
Turbo Boost works automatically when an application demands such power
There is no reason to disable turbo boost ...
Perhaps you're using Intel Stock Cooler . You should buy an aftermarket cooler such as Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo and aftermarket thermal compound Arctic MX-4

Yes I'm using the Intel Stock cooler with which the 3570k came and about Turbo Boost umm I haven't really disabled anything in the bios I just thought Turbo Boost was like a program or something you used to speed up the fan speed (sorry for the ignorance) so then I really wouldn't know if Turbo Boost is enabled or not, I'd have to check the BIOS settings
