Ran into something silly on the macOS port of Dolphin today: For some reason, it looks as though the emulator does not like having to deal with files stored on iCloud Drive. I recently set up my Mac to manage space on it by offloading lesser-used files to my cloud storage: it appears on my Mac as if it's a file ready to use, but when an app or I want to open the file, the Mac first needs to download the entire thing from my personal iCloud
So far, that makes sense, and I don't think that's something to worry about. However, it appears as though as soon as Dolphin does ANYTHING at all with a file stored on the cloud, it immediately locks up as it tries to download everything. It can happen if I try to run a locally stored game, or even if I add a single thing to the list of available titles or just refresh the list of them. It ends up redownloading every. single. cloud-only file. And Dolphin practically hangs while it does this, downloading tons of files just to see that they exist! It even happens when using an SD card folder that's synced to iCloud, and is also offloaded, partially or fully, in some manner - it has to download the entire contents of that folder before I can start playing.
In the meantime, I've essentially just ended up deleting or moving things I don't actively need, just to even allow Dolphin to open and close properly again, never mind boot even the bios or a game. It's a workaround I'm willing to live with, but I am curious if anyone else has run into that issue before, and if it's something that can be fixed? Or is it just me and I should just be happy with having my stuff stored locally and micromanage this Mac's 512gb SSD?
