Also get an overclockable board if you're getting an overclockable CPU. It's practically a free speedup in the future if you ever get CPU bound.

Your hard drive will be your main bottleneck. Get an SSD and you'll see huge performance increases in everything - games, bootup, Internet browser, transferring files, etc. 250 gig SSDs are on sale for around 70-80 bucks.

Except for Dolphin.

Hard drive access times are already a zillion times faster than the emulated disc read speed.

Although Dolphin sees no benefit from using an SSD, I would still recommend OP getting one as the boot device. 120GB models are already dirt cheap and fit Windows with no trouble. The boot times and general responsiveness of the computer will improve greatly, not to mention the fact that two drives means that the HDD can (and will) shut down when at desktop or browsing saving on both electricity and noise.

OP was asking if their build would be good for Dolphin. It is.

I see a lot of needless budget over inflation as well as penny pinching in this forum. It's stupid.

The benefits of an SSD isn't exactly a secret.

And that's exactly why it caught my eye that it wasn't on the shopping list. Maybe they just forgot or didn't know, but I wanted to make sure that they don't pass on an SSD entirely.

From now on I will stop skewing off topic, I swear! Tongue
