The real reason I didn't want to overclock was because of the increase in power consumption. If an OC'ed Pentium really does use less power than an Athlon at stock in the real world, then I'd be happy to overclock. Guess it is worth it then!
[CPU - AMD Athlon X4 750K] [GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7770] [RAM - 8GB @ 1866MHz]

You won't find a more power-efficient chip with any money Smile

Some of the tiny baytrail chips, or something ARM-based would be more power efficient in terms of operations per joule, but they're not going to actually be able to get much done. Just be careful with terminology.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional

I think I'm implying x86, and baytrail is so low performance that it shouldn't be in the same league of comparisons.
However, yes, something along those lines could be more power efficient. Damn you nitpicker Tongue

And look here OP about energy consumption: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pentium-g3258-overclocking-performance,3849-16.html

As you can see above Overclocking also gets a task done quicker so it can idle again. Overclocking does not mean a significant increase in power consumption when you take that into account.

But you have to have it as a dynamic overclock. When I'm on a web browser or desktop my CPU is clocked well below 1 GHz.
