Fwiw, I've "gotten on your case" about two explicit points: 1) that the i3-4330 is sufficient for Dolphin in all cases/most cases and 2) that the Pentium G3258 does not "demolish" the i3-4330 in Dolphin. You didn't just say that the i3-4330 would be a better choice if other factors needed to be considered (a point I never contested); you said some other things that stood out like red-flags. A lot happened while I was at work, dunno what everyone has said to you, so I won't comment on them.

Welp now I've decided to get a G3258 since it's better then my current system and we can finally test how good the CPU really is. I was going to go buy a 750ti but why not upgrade my motherboard and cpu while I'm at it?

What we're trying to say is that the Pov-ray test is equal to a game in Dolphin. Unlike benchmarking for PC games, the Pov-ray test does a lot of the functions that the games actually use when running on real hardware/Dolphin.

So when you ask for specific game testing and we give you the data from the Pov-ray test, it's the same as if we ran a really demanding game on both systems. The one with a faster score can play more demanding games at or near full-speed.

I do not, as I don't own one so I never looked it up. Try a Google search?

Look you guys. The G3258 is pretty darn good with Dolphin. It is terrible if you have multi-GPU in games.
It obviously is not good at encoding unless it's overclocked. When it is overclocked it performs much better at encoding than a i3-4330, a CPU 3 times the price where I live.

So to answer if it's worth the extra money I'd resoundingly say no.

Anyway though cheap skylake is coming out near the end of Q1 next year. I'm sure a cheap i3 then will have to be re-evaluated against the G3258.

Would the G3258 still be worth it for the way better Dolphin performance at a lower power consumption?
[CPU - AMD Athlon X4 750K] [GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7770] [RAM - 8GB @ 1866MHz]

Yes, even when overclocked, the power consumption is below your Athlon at stock: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pentium-g3258-overclocking-performance,3849-16.html
