See what I mean? Why would I ever turn off the frame limit while actually using Dolphin? There's no benefit to going over the framelimit. The i3 vs the g3258 is 60fps vs 60fps. Get the i3 if you're also PC gaming. Get the G3258 if this is a dedicated Emulation Build.

To skip through cutscenes? To get past slow segments of the game? If you think it's really some fringe case, then you don't really notice what other people are doing with Dolphin. If these cases aren't applicable for you, fine, but don't pretend they aren't valid for others. Just ask most of us who've played through Skies of Arcadia's slow-paced battles.

There are plenty of situations where the i3-4330 isn't sufficient, where the G3258 would excel in Dolphin (multiplayer games, particularly MK Wii, Hyrule Field, gaming at higher IRs requires more CPU resources as well, and games that are just plain CPU intensive, despite the speedups in Dolphin...) Saying that they'll each give you 60 FPS is an over-simplification.

In Dolphin, the G3258 is the top dog along with the i5-4690K and the i7-4790K. It wasn't released when we did our benchmarking, but here's our results for everything else https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AunYlOAfGABxdFQ0UzJyTFAxbzZhYWtGcGwySlRFa1E#gid=0

If you're referring to PC games, it matches up almost exactly with how the i3-4330 performs (sometimes better, sometimes worse. It averages out to be practically the same)

You say this but nobody is giving me any cases where the i3 isn't sufficent. Mostly because no one has tested both and you're basing your opinion on a benchmark where the i3 is also in the top 10.

Your suggestion that the i3-4330 is sufficient for every or most use cases is equally invalid without data supporting it you know...

But if you want to go on and say that demanding games like Pokemon Battle Revolution and TLS will hit fullspeed on both, go ahead. However, if you see anyone here running a Haswell around 3.5GHz and they find themselves getting CPU-based slowdowns, that's actually going to be an indication of where the i3-4330 isn't going to up to the task.

Try Zelda TP in Hyrule Field after beating the game (and without ZTP patch), The Last Story, Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 with DSP LLE or Mario Kart Wii in multiplayer (4 players) and you'll see the i3 being demolished while the G3258 OCed will suffice...

Or you can take our word for it since we've seen them tested before and know how they perform Tongue

No. They haven't been tested. If they have you would be able to give me FPS results. You can't because it hasn't happened yet.

I think people don't want to just take other people's word on this. There aren't many videos of those 2 processors playing dolphin so it's probably because of that people are skeptical.
