Please don't try to make an easy way for people to get around the ban. I don't want to cause Wiimm any more problems.
Is Dolphin banned for Wiimmfi servers??
|
The point is that Wiimm probably banned us from their servers because people used Dolphin to cheat online. You may even find a way to bypass this ban, however, I'm certainly that Wiimm won't stop, it'll find other ways to ban Dolphin users unless people stop cheating online with Dolphin, which is very unlikely, even if it's just a small portion of our user base. It's the price legitimate users pay for the cheaters who use Dolphin online

At the moment, can self-NAND-dumped people use Dolphin?
I think if you dump NAND and import own save file, you're safe for now. Some staff said that nobody got banned if they did not use Dolphin or MAC changers, somewhat implying that they were banning Dolphin users. Wiimm on the other hand said that he banned individual Dolphin cheaters along with their nands and real consoles, not Dolphin users in general. There are some reports of people getting banned for merely using Dolphin without cheating, and some others claiming to be banned for no reason at all.
Then why tell us? I think it'd be very useful if you told people how to import their save file.

I succeeded in generating an unlimited number of NANDs without a real Wii. That could easily be abused for cheating, as every time a person gets banned, they can just generate a new NAND and start over. The admins did not want me to release it because it could cause major problems.
If you just want to import your save file, you can already do that by importing your entire NAND. https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/nand-usage-guide/ If you import your savefile into a default NAND, that connection will be banned. There is a possibility that your save file will be banned as well, because it has been associated with a banned console. If that happened, then when you try to play on your real Wii, its save file will be banned as well. There is even the possibility of your console getting banned entirely because it has connected with a banned save file. It all depends on whether Wiimm bans by association, meaning that if you connect with a banned savefile, for example, the console will be banned as well. Which users are trusted enough to be given the instructions? Is it OK to give more general information about how the ban system works? I have attached a Python script I wrote to decode and encode Nintendo WFC traffic POST-data. It was extremely helpful in the process of understanding how the ban system works. (Rename to .py first) Also here is a Dropbox mirror. https://www.dropbox.com/s/znvbbgpvqvitsr...de_wifi.py 07-04-2014, 04:52 AM
Imo, just post instructions. It's not our responsibility to make sure no one cheats, especially not at the cost of making sure legitimate users can't use it either.

Maybe make some heavily obfuscated encrypted script that derives the unique IDs from the PC information, to prevent one person from generating multiple unique NANDs? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography ? I suck at obfuscation.
I'll send it via PM to any developers/admins/moderators who want it. Maybe Wiimm already blocked it after I sent him. (Not sure if it's possible to block this method). Leseratte said that they don't block by IP. Are there any Wiimmfi-specific extensions to run code or hash/upload specific files on the Wii/emulator? Some code does not behave the same between Wii and Dolphin. (Unlikely, arbitrary code execution could allow anyone to hack CTGPR by posing as Wiimmfi server and telling it to dump all DOL files, though digital signatures removes that risk) (will anyone go through the trouble of downloading code, verifying its signature, and running it, all in a DOL patch of an existing program?) Active probing can also identify unique characteristics of ModMii UNEEK nands, for example, which IOSes are installed are always the same, the neek2o switcher channel is always installed, etc. Wiimm and other admin stated at one point that if Dolphin's lagging, then they treat it as a timer hack and can treat that as a reason to ban. It may be a good idea to warn people. Specifically, my CPU is somehow underclocked to 2.4 GHz and I need to reboot to fix it in the BIOS. Can someone confirm whether real NAND dumps work or not, and whether or not they get banned after stopping and restarting emulation? 07-09-2014, 01:50 PM
Wrote this super quick. Just run it with the path to nwc24msg.cfg (located in Wii/shared2/wc24) as an argument and it will generate a new random id. Code is public domain except maybe the parts i copy pasted from dolphin. No nand dump is required to connect to the wiimmfi servers.
