Hi, I'm thinking about buying a sensor bar to enable the pointer of my original Wiimote (required in some games like Mario Party 9 and Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2).

The problem is that I have to enable "Skip EFB Access from CPU" to run Super Mario Galaxy smoothly and I have read that this option breaks the sync with the pointer. Is that true? Is it playable? I would appreciate detailed information

Thanks

Hello¡ Sadly it's still not playable without this option. Yes it breaks the sync with the pointer. I Don't know anything about coding but i hope they will put some hotkey or something for this option... It may be very usefull.

Still? Sorry to crush your hopes but Super Mario Galaxy cursor will never work with Skip EFB Access from CPU enabled since that's a hack...

Here's what I suggest you do:

Download the latest Dolphin version that supported Frameskipping (5.0-1031) and set it to 2 (If your PC can't run a game at fullspeed any even-number frameskip won't work properly)

I play this game with these settings all the time and most of the time it runs at full-speed

You could also try the (unofficial) Ishiiruka builds. I'm pretty sure they are kind of up-to-date, they kept the frameskipping and they still give support for DX9 (which could or could not be faster), but I'm not quite sure if the pointer still works as it usually messes up with some EFB features

Also, disabling external frame buffer will improve performance a lot on Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.
My specs:
Operating System: Windows 10 x64
Processor/CPU: intel I7 3770 3.4 Ghz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1060 6GB
Memory/RAM: 16 GB
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 5.0-xxxx X64 (always the latest) and the latest Ishiiruka for custom textures.

I'm still learning english. Please, be patient with me. And, if i make a mistake, please correct me, i will learn a lot this way!  Big Grin

But needing to disable it means it is enabled by default (INI). Any side-effects by disabling it?
