yeah I asked cause JMC is aware of it.  He commented when I announced it on reddit and I told him about my future plans of making auto-install/update functionality for texture packs for dolphin.  Anyways, very cool!

It would be nice for me if you could make this a command line feature of dolphin.  Something like this:

dolphin.exe --add-pack http://pack.url/texture.zip

I'm in the process of adding all notable texture packs to a wii games database, that way Bottlenose could batch install texture packs for all the games a user has.

Yeah, I actually did like that idea as something to be integrated with Dolphin proper and did bring it up. The main difference was actually after I brought it up, where the standards an ideas for actually installing them came from.

cool Smile What do you mean by standards for installing them?

One thing you guys should consider looking into is support for google drive links.  gdrive doesn't have publicly shareable direct download links.  I may be able to get around this by using puppeteer, a headless browser.  If there's a better solution let me know.  A lot of texture pack creators, including me, use google drive as it's free and fast.

Still curious if this is a possibility and if it will be implemented or not? I just want to know so I can wrap up work on my tool and start getting some packs ready.

I assume it can? I can't think of a reason why it couldn't.

Sure it could be done, but will it be done was my question since I didn't see anyone confirm or deny it will be added. Maybe I'm just being impatient, sorry about that. Tongue

Couldn't this be done automatically if the user is supplying the url?  All dolphin would have to do is check the file types to display the pack type.

For Bottlenose I'll be storing the links to dds, png, and the dolphin forum url or pack home page:

{

            "id": "G8ME01",
            "title": "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door",
            "texp": [{
                "name": "HD",
                "authors": ["The Dolphin Community"],
                "rate": 10,
                "version": "1.8.0",
                "dds": "https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_sihdonrLpO9YxQLFfdubdS6ccktKHfu/view",
                "png": "https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ml_a7-o_ZB5ZbG3LIqdJA_8VSu8msIh6/view",
                "url": "https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-paper-mario-ttyd-hd-texture-pack-v1-7-july-4-2018"
            }]
}

Probably at some point. But not in the initial implementation.

the install button should copy your zip to the new resource pack folder instead of activating the pack. wasn't the whole point to make it so users don't have to struggle with copy/paste files to different directories?

Woops, just wanted to try this out, dropped a zip of a texture pack in the resourcePacks folder and refreshing made Dolphin crash and not even start anymore until I took the pack out >_<
Does it have to be in a specific format?
