(I made sure to do a sweep of a good few threads before posting this but couldn't find a solid answer)
Hey everyone, I'm Chloe. It's my first post here, but I'm not the kind of person to get support and dash off into the sunset, so I'm really looking forward to learning about Dolphin more in-depth, and also hopefully help others in the future!
My main goal is to be able to run any title without lag and without dropping to 10-20fps (looking at you Need for Speed..).
If there are graphical adjustments I can make that don't effect performance then I'm all for them, but otherwise, I'm not really interested in pushing older titles beyond their original graphical capabilities; I'd just like them to run with good stability haha.
Here's what I'm working with (also, it's a laptop, if that changes anything):
The revision I'm currently using is: Dolphin 5.0-21717 x64 and below are my current settings.
If you've stuck with me so far, many thanks!
I know this is a huge novel of a first post, but I want to make sure I'm giving you all the info you need.
Additionally, I made some notes last night while testing various titles of varying performance demand, which I hope can also give you an insight into the kinds of problems I'm having.
So, now that I've explained what I'm working with, what settings I'm using in which Dolphin revision, and what problems I'm facing.. what do you think?
I really hope the overall outcome isn't "yeah sorry Chloe, just need better kit" because that's definitely a potential, but I'm hoping with some tweaks, I can avoid having to resort to a more expensive option.
Huge thanks in advance to anyone who chucks their 2p in!

Quote:2002 FIFA World Cup
Runs fine but the cutscenes are sometimes broken, and the loading screen is just bright green with a purple loading bar at the bottom right
Bloody Roar: Primal Fury
AMV intro doesn't stutter but has vertical scanlines that disjoin the picture, and a 5-button combo input in training made the game run at about 12 frames per second, naturally making a fighting game unplayable
DragonBall Z: Budokai 2
AMV intro doesn't stutter and also has no vertical scanlines unlike Bloody Roar, but the screen/display bounces up and down like a loose RGB cable or something. I tried forcing a 4:3 Ratio to lock it in place, but it didn't do anything
[EDIT UPON THREAD APPROVAL: I've actually looked at the thread for this game, and I've learned that this is a normal error with this title, so feel free to class this one as 100% playable]
FIFA 06
Works great, bloody hard though
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, Need for Speed: Underground, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted
All three titles have broken video sequences with vertical scanlines and lag, the menu navigation is fine, but the frames drop by half as soon as you're at the starting line, and drop even further when you and whomever else begin accelerating. Much like Bloody Roar, this makes a racing game completely unplayable.
Taz Wanted
Very, very, very minimal lag spike during the intro cutscene, but the gameplay and quality are both great, making this the most playable game so far
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GBC)
I've found through playing around that using Direct3D 11 and Intel UHD Graphics together makes this game run absolutely perfectly. No lag, no audio issues, just generally fantastic.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run, and The Simpsons: Road Rage
Both of these titles run smoothly, but they are also not overly demanding titles to begin with
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
Runs at half the framerate during actual gameplay, which I'm starting to think is a trend with 3D, more openworld/sandbox titles, but like Bloody Roar and all the Need for Speed titles, this makes a skateboarding game incredibly difficult to play and not fun at all
