I've been playing Sims Bustin' Out on my physical GBA for a few days now, it's an old time fave, one of those I can always go back to, and I never had a gamecube growing up so I never got to take part in all the fun stuff that you got to do with the gamecube+gameboy player, so I thought it was really cool that Dolphin has this feature exactly, so I've began playing Bustin' Out on Gamecube for the first time in my life, and I can tell already I'm going to really enjoy it, and I'd love to see all the features I missed out on connecting the two games. From my physical Bustin Out cartridge, I've dumped my rom and save file onto my PC just fine, and it plays and loads my save file just fine on mGBA, but when i connect mGBA to Dolphin, Dolphin just keeps creating a new save file for my gameboy game rather than loading my actual save file, and even adds a 2 to it, like it's completely ignoring the fact there is clearly already a save file there I want it to be using (this save file I can and want to write back onto my physical cart, so preferably I don't start completely over). I've even gone so far as to create a save state and try to load it up on the integrated mGBA.

I get it to work as intended if I load up mGBA separately to Dolphin and connect them that way, from the "connect to dolphin" option from mGBA, the problem I have with that is I cannot get mGBA to let go of my controller, so any input I use for Dolphin, the GBA takes as well and it causes a lot of problems, so alternatively, maybe a way to get mGBA to stop reading the controller input when it's not the active screen I would also appreciate!

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance!

Coming back to say it's been figured out! The "-2" it was adding to the new save file was the GBA port, so renaming my save file and adding the "-2" to the end solved it, and now the integrated mGBA reads and writes the correct save file.
