Insane Performance drop upon upgrading to newest dolphin?

So i've been using dolphin 3.0 since july, and i only started playing it with brawl about a week ago. On average i got a playable enough framerate (major drop at the intro, 50-48 fps during heavy battles where there's lots of characters on the screen) so i was fine. Today i had to "upgrade" to 4.0.2 to use project m, and when i did, i couldnt even play the game anymore. On average i get about 30 fps. 45 if i'm REALLY lucky. So what's the big deal here? I tried downgrading all the graphics settings i could, i made sure nothing was changed from what i normally used with the older version, and still nothing.

Also, I just wanna play brawl and that's it. So i only need resolutions that are good for brawl.

Didn't help at all. Got an even worse framerate and it was just as buggy.

Switch over to the D3D backend if you haven't already

I just tried the most recent Dev builds and i can confirm that the framerate is WAY lower than intended even though the counter shows it playing at full speed, switched back to revision 4.0-3430 and the game works perfectly again, its not just Project M/Brawl either, i tested MKWii and had the same "framerate" problem

Yeah eventually i solved the issue. For some reason dolphin kept switching my saved settings back to default (which, for some reason, was set at the worst possible settings).
Now the last issue i need to resolve is keeping 60fps a constant thing during brawls :L keeps dipping to 55 then back which causes some minor issues. otherwise the game is near perfect (in terms of gameplay)

Yeah. I tested best possible settings, some stuff i never used, ect. Framerate was awful.

Probably because vsync actually works now in Dolphin (on most computers) and it was being messed up by drivers overriding it.
