Input recording on one port?

Is it possible to record and play back inputs for just one controller port (retaining control of other ports during playback)? I'm inclined to think no, or at least not in a way that's useful to me since Dolphin apparently won't let you initiate playback mid-game, but I'd like to make sure I haven't missed something.
