inability to change the range for analog sticks

Hello there!

I have been playing around with Dolphin 3.5-367 on the OSX 10.8.2 on my MacBook Pro 13 inch mid 2012 model. For the most part it has been working great and is one of the best (if not the best) emulators I have ever seen, my respect to the devs.

I have managed to connect an xbox360 controller to my macbook and have been playing around with the gamepad settings. The button layout is perfect, but the analog sticks are far too sensitive for my taste! I tinkered around with the deadzone, which made things a little better, but not much. After some research I came to the conclusion that I had to change the range of the analog sticks from the default 100 to 75 (or something around that number). The problem that I'm having is that whatever I try, the range just revolts back to 100 after saving.

I found a clip on youtube of someone who is having exactly the same problem as I'm having:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yor5Wbip53o

If someone could help me, it would be highly appreciated!

thanks in advance,

mistermister

This is maybe already fixed.
Download a recent revision from the official site, you seem to have not used http://dolphin-emu.org/download/

Thanks for your help! It didn't fix my problem, but I will try to stay up-to-date,

I tried snooping around in the controller files to see if I could change it by changing the .ini file (Users/user/Library/Application Support/Dolphin/Config/) my personal controller Profile was stashed in (Users/user/Library/Application Support/Dolphin/Config/Profiles/GCPad/controller.ini)

but when I opened the .ini the range was nowhere to be found!

Controller.ini

[Profile]
Device = Input/0/Controller
Buttons/A = Button 1
Buttons/B = Button 3
Buttons/X = Button 2
Buttons/Y = Button 4
Buttons/Z = Button 6
Buttons/Start = Button 9
Main Stick/Dead Zone = 15.000000
Main Stick/Up = Axis Y-
Main Stick/Down = Axis Y+
Main Stick/Left = Axis X-
Main Stick/Right = Axis X+
Main Stick/Modifier = Button 5
Main Stick/Modifier/Range = 50.000000
C-Stick/Dead Zone = 15.000000
C-Stick/Up = Axis Ry-
C-Stick/Down = Axis Ry+
C-Stick/Left = Axis Rx-
C-Stick/Right = Axis Rx+
C-Stick/Modifier = Button 5
C-Stick/Modifier/Range = 50.000000
Triggers/L = Axis Z-+
Triggers/R = Axis Rz-+
Triggers/L-Analog = Axis Z-+
Triggers/R-Analog = Axis Rz-+
D-Pad/Up = Button 12
D-Pad/Down = Button 13
D-Pad/Left = Button 14
D-Pad/Right = Button 15

the modifier/range aren't the range for the analog sticks, I believe you can bind a button to function as a walk button (I believe).
When testing it in the config, it puts your digital analog pointer to a fixed state when pressed.

I can't seem to find an .ini handling the range of the analog sticks, does that mean there isn't one and is that why I can't seem to change it?

thanks in advance,

mistermister

I believe the ini names are of the form: "Main Stick/Up/Range". They aren't saved to the ini when having the default value.

Just wanted to say that I was having the same problem with the most recent version of Dolphin on OS X. Range settings wouldn't stick.

In my case, I was trying to use a Wii U Pro Controller (similar controls to a dualshock 3 or Xbox 360 controller), and by default, even with "radius" set to 100, I would only get about 40% of the range out of the analog sticks that I was supposed to. To get them working properly, I had to set my ranges to 175%.
