Imported file has sav extension but does not have a correct header issue

Hey guys, I am trying to import one of my sav states into mem card manager due to my current save on there saying that the mem card is not found. However, if I try to import the sav to a gci or import it, I get this error. Any advice?

You can't put a savestate in a memory card. It only works with actual save files.

So from now on will I just have to load my old mem card and press f5? Is there any other work around?

Load game, load save state, and then see if you can save in the game.
