It's worth it in my opinion. Once you use a good IPS monitor you won't be able to go back. IPS + multimonitor = heaven. One day I will discard my current TN panel (well, use it as a second monitor).....one day.

Have we turned this into another Q & A thread? Thank god we already answered the OPs question.

What's IPS?

Are we talking about Snes9x?

Since this thread seems to suddenly have become a debate about 24" monitors, I might as well recommend my own monitor. Dell u2412m. It basically got it all, 1920x1200 resolution, eIPS panel and its LED backlit. The build quality and the ergonomics are also top notch.

Although I'm already considering an upgrade to either Dell u3011 or Samsung S27A850D.

The only problem with IPS technology is that even though the response times have gotten lower and lower over the last few years they're still significantly higher than a good TN panel. And as a result of this you cannot find a 120Hz IPS monitor, only 60Hz. So if you have $400 to spend you have to choose between either a 120Hz TN or 60Hz IPS. I would have thought that I would prefer a 60Hz TN but after watching TF2 gameplay at 120fps with v-sync on a 120Hz TN monitor.....I want one......it makes video games buttery smooth (I don't really care about 60fps stereoscopic 3D but that's an added bonus).

Yeah, I heard that 120hz monitors are the way to go. I am currently considering a 27" 120hz high end samsung monitor.

Btw, I have set graphics to 8xSSAA and there is no lag in Zelda: WW,OOT, and Lugis Mansion seems to run good as well.

Can you confirm that it's actually working? Most driver level implementations don't work with dolphins d3d9 backend due to the use of offscreen render targets for efb emulation.

I am on my LG 27" 1920x1080 IPS monitor right now, I switched to a 27" because I wanted a bigger monitor. Gaming is great, huge display, great colors and picture quality, but some games (like cs:go) and even dolphin seems to have screen tearing. I tried v-sync in dolphin which didn't help, and turning on v-sync in cs:go adds a huge lag, so I heard that 120hz monitors are able to solve this problem, is that something you can confirm?

I believe G-Sync solves the problem
