I was kinda disappointed about Galaxy too. The controls, even if they are still very well done like every Mario game, are a bit limp, floaty, not very dynamic, less technical than 64. The beginning of the game is very slow, easy and cute. I loved Galaxy 2, more dynamic and hardcore.
Odyssey is really excellent, the only 3D Mario that I can really compare with 64.
