EDIT: It might just be related to the arrows dropped in general.

If you can narrow down a build that this behavior started at, or if there are any settings causing it, please let me know.

Okay, it turns out it was an issue with her own computer, so a bug report is not needed, since I cannot reproduce it on my own computer using the exact version that she was using.
If it's useful, she's using a steam machine with "an i5" and a 780. EDIT: In the same situation that caused this, with an older version, a strobe effect was caused. Older version being both 4.0.2 and r6515 And, yes, this was on 3587.

Okay, we've been testing this on her side for a bit, it seems that, for some reason, the arrows' drop causes the GPU to desync from the CPU, even in single-core.
In older versions, instead of crashing, you get a nice plane of red encompassing all. Hail the great red plane.

It sounds like something's wrong with her computer. Can you get me the specs? Can you check the disc MD5? Etc.

I'm having the exact same problem as @kinkinkijkin. Though they are more observant that it happens when breaking pots with arrows in them which seems to be the case.
Only first happened to me in the Goron Mines after getting the bow when arrows all of a sudden magically appear everywhere in pots I can confirm 4.0 builds (dolphin-master-4.0-4091-x64 and dolphin-master-4.0-3387-x64) crash whereas >4.0 builds (Dolphin-win-x64-v3.5-367, the build I took this screen shot from for instance) show crazy rainbow flashing polygons everywhere leading me to believe that my video card was dying. On that note, considering this thread is recent and that OP has an Nvidia card leads me to make an educated guess that perhaps it is caused by a side effect of newer video drivers. I have a GTX 570 with release 344.60 WHQL which came out about a week ago to me writing this. 344.11 WHQL was the latest driver out at the time when this thread was made by OP. I haven't replayed TP in at least 6 months so I can't specify when this started. But I have completed the game many times on Dolphin on various builds with no problems so this is a new occurrence. Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Intel i-7-2600 @ 3.4Ghz Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 570 RAM: Kingston 16GB (4x4GB) UPDATE: Just some more info for anyone who happens to run into this problem as well. I can confirm that the arrow problem occurs for me even on ancient revisions (Dolphin-win-x64-r7376 from 2011) I also tried the game on a completely different rig which gave the same results. The other rig also had a GTX 570 with driver version 337.88 WHQL from May of this year. That said it could still be a bad game dump. I tried re-ripping the game but it still happens. MD5 checksum: efff89f2dd04f30884ffa9df62b71e31 (If that is helpful at all ) Got some extra screenshots in Dolphin 4.0-4091 of the error messages. The messages only display for frames containing an arrow item drop on screen. You can hold down enter on the messages and slowly get through those frames and gameplay resumes as normal once they arrows get picked up or disappear. A quick 'fix' is to disable "Use Panic Handlers" In Config>Interface. It no longer suspends gameplay and (at least for me) the flashing polygons are nowhere near as detrimental in 4.0-4091. This a strange occurrence and really the only thing that's changed between my playthroughs of TP are video drivers but then I again I could still be missing something important. |
