Because Iris Pro, at least as far as I know, has yet to be released as a socketed option? It mostly comes with Intel NUC / Gigabyte Brix type USFF machines... in other words, soldered to the Mainboard.
Maybe someone else knows different? 05-30-2014, 05:33 AM
I think it's only BGA, too.
By the way, since 4.0, Dolphin's got faster, so it might no longer be sensible to worry about it being more demanding in the future.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X RAM: 48GB GPU: Radeon 7800 XT 05-30-2014, 07:48 AM

Good advice... don't think better integrated graphics are worth waiting for as HD 4600 will nail pretty much everything I need for some time. Defo going for 1150 mini-itx as it will support broadwell also... so I can always chuck a new chip in when Iris Pro receives general release! Going to order the parts tomorrow - can't wait to get started! Thank you all Ras 05-30-2014, 08:50 AM
If you want a small GPU, EVGA has 4.4" by 6.7" cards (GTX 740-750 Ti IIRC) that would run most games at 4x IR. I have a GTX 750 and it runs SSBM and SSBPM (only games I've used on Dolphin) at 4x IR with no slowdowns. They also have crazy low power needs.

Well you already made up you mind, so go for it and see how it will perform, you can always upgrade later if needed. Thanks mate, but my main concern with this build is to have it 'small' ... with ability to mount of back of my TV (VESA). This essentially rules out a larger case to accomodate a dGPU (low profile or otherwise) (05-30-2014, 08:03 PM)rpglord Wrote:(05-30-2014, 03:35 AM)ras2a Wrote: Because Iris Pro, at least as far as I know, has yet to be released as a socketed option? Indeed, ordering the parts today for delivery tomorrow... looking forward to building Getting ready to run up Hyperspin - should be a good fit 06-03-2014, 06:03 AM
That's beautiful, nice to see you've built it already!
BTW I also happen to have the same GA-H87N-WIFI -motherboard, as well as the same processor. If you have the time, I'm eager to hear, how does your hardware handle Dolphin, in your opinion. The main difference of our builds is the cooling, so I'm also curious, what kind of temps do you get (ie when playing with Dolphin / idle / max stress)? (For reference, I have Streacom FC8 Evo Fanless Chassis). (06-03-2014, 06:03 AM)TurboK Wrote: That's beautiful, nice to see you've built it already! Yeah, it's a lovely little case. HOWEVER, having just seen your case I am now very jealous. The original thinking behind such a small case was that it was to be mounted on the back of the TV in our bedroom. HOWEVER, it's ended up just sitting on the dressing unit next to the TV. Sooooo, I could now feasibly move it to a larger case... and this would then give scope for a dGPU. Hmmmm.... your case is BEAUTIFUL and I see that it'll take a dGPU... soooo..... As soon as I get chance to start configuring the emux side of things, I'll test performance out. I'm looking to use Hyperspin as a front-end Cheers mate ras (06-03-2014, 06:03 AM)TurboK Wrote: (For reference, I have Streacom FC8 Evo Fanless Chassis). Could you post a couple of pics of your case, so I can see its size in context? Cheers |
