After seeing how Super Smash Brothers Wii U looks significantly more aliased than I expected on a friends 60 inch Samsung TV (30ms average display-lag bleh!) I'm now VERY interested in playing emulated games in 4K.
Sure, I may already have a decent dedicated emulation PC built, however (on top of not having HDMI 2.0 support) my Nvidia 750 ti can play a few games @ x5 internal resolution so I'm really considering getting the newly released Nvidia gtx 960 over the gtx 970 due to the significant price difference...
...that said, if what I've read is true, therefore the gtx 960 really is the equivalent of 2 gtx 750 ti's; I should just stick with that right?
BUT! There are other things to consider.
Apparently a gtx 960 Ti is in the works maybe, perhaps, we'll see... which could be useful considering playing Super Mario Sunshine in 60fps really stresses out my lowly 750 Ti at only x3 resolution (x2.5 IR on the other hand has 10/10 consistent frame-rate, even when using the jet pack at Bianco Hills, zoomed all the way out, 16:9 widescreen patch, the works )!
The way I see it, more and more people are going to be coming out with these 60fps patches which *surprise surprise* really taxes both processors. At the moment the only processor I'm concerned with replacing is my GPU soooooo basically, all I want to ask this community is:
Is the gtx 960 worth buying for x6 - x5 internal resolution on everything*, 60fps patch or otherwise? Or should I just wait a while for a gtx 960 Ti to come about?
Technically I'm trying to get the 1 human being out there that owns a gtx 960 and has tested how it handles x6 IR in saaaaay... I don't know... F-Zero GX, to give me results of any description so I can judge this potential purchase with some really solid info. backing it. Thanks
My one fear with the gtx 960 is that no graphics card manufacturer makes one with 3gb of vram or more which may be useful when it comes to Dolphin, but it also may not which is of course why waiting for a more advanced 960 with (I can only imagine) more than 2gb of vram would be a smart idea.
*Name any "quality" Gamecube / Wii game that is considered half-playable by the wiki and you'd better believe I have plans to play it.
