CPUBoss and GPUBoss are practically useless when comparing things that aren't made by the same company in the same year in the same product series that cost within 10% of each other.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

That's why i told you to buy G3258 , it's faster than i5 4460 in Dolphin Benchmark
CPUboss and all benchmark programs are all useless . Dolphin is a dual core application . Dolphin favors Haswell CPU

ok, so now my system is

INTEL Core i5 4460 3.2Ghz
ASUS Z97-P MOBO
16GB DDR3 1600 CRUCIAL

I don't see any difference. I am crying.

So - I tested only Modern Warfare Reflex so far. Maybe I need to test again. Can someone recommend a Dolphin version? and should I use the Dev versions??

As it's already been mentioned a couple of times, a 4460 is not really ideal since the single core speed is relatively low for Dolphin (where >3.5Ghz is the sweet spot you should be aiming for on Intel processors) and it cannot be overclocked to reach those higher speeds. The Pentium G3258 for less than half the price yields better performance in Dolphin.

So it's really no wonder you don't see any distinguishable improvement.

Well I haven't personally tested either one on Dolphin so I cannot say this for sure, but the i5 shouldn't be that much better than the one you already have. And your experience seems to back that up. Dolphin is a dual core program that is mainly interested in the speed of the processor (measured in Ghz, gigahertz) and the IPC (instructions per clock, which is pretty much a constant among the last couple generations of Intel processors). This means that if you can push a cheap Intel CPU at say 4.5Ghz, it will probably outperform an expensive one running at 4.2Ghz. This doesn't go for many other programs, especially ones that support multithreading (of 4 or more threads), but in Dolphin it's a big deal. Meaning that for general computing, gaming, editing etc. the new CPU will indeed be noticeably faster than the old one.

If you want to you can use this unofficial benchmark to see if the i5 is performing to specifications. You should see a score (time) in the 6:10 to 6:20 range.

PS. The 4460 is from the February of last year, so it's almost two years old now. I'm not saying that it's too old or anything, but in tech things generally progress at a swift pace and products have a shorter shelf life. There's already been two generations of i5 released after that one  Smile (Well, technically 1,5)

EDIT: I realized I said this in a confusing and misleading way. What I meant is that you will of course see improvement in especially the more demanding games you play, like in Twilight Princess, but in lighter games the difference may turn out to be a lot less. The 4460 is a good processor, but it's not a solution to get full speed in every game out there. For that higher clock speeds would be necessary.

Your new CPU will run significantly better. It might struggle on some heavier games, but I don't think you'll have many issues.

Not much difference?  The individual stats are double in several cases,  and that's overlooking the fact that the site really says jack about real performance and just compares marketing numbers.

People kept recommending the Intel G3258 for you...and told you to not buy the chip that you did and pair it with a Z board because it's not unlock.  Furthermore, you went and purchased a Z series board that is designed with overclocking in mind.  Why would you purchase a chip that is not unlocked with limited overclockability and then pair it with a board that is designed for overclocking?  The i5 4460 should be better than your previous duo core in dolphin performance with the latest development build...but man, you shoulda got the g3258 and saved yourself 2/3 the cost.
