I recently 'upgraded' from 4670k that barely could do 4.3 GHz at crazy volts (1.27v) to 4770k. I got pretty lucky with this new chip, since it can do 4.5GHz at 1.175v and 4.6GHz is stable at 1.205v, beyond that even my noctua NH D14 gets kinda warm. I think I could do even 4.7GHz.
I think this should be enough to max most if not all games?

You shouldn't have any problems running Dolphin at full speed with most demanding games on this processor.
Hell, the 4670K was enough to begin with... 05-21-2014, 01:17 AM
I was just scared of requirements for the newer games like watch dogs and shadow of mordor.. So I ended up with i7. But this overclocks like crazy compared to my last chip.

Did you overclock your processor normaly or did you delid the processor to fix the TIM issues?

i5 4670k could do the same if you're lucky ...
Some chips (i7 4770k , i5 4670k) can overclock well , some chips can't If you got the bad i7 chip then it wouldn't be called "an upgrade" , just saying... Laptop: Mini PC :: 05-22-2014, 01:57 PM
Mine seems to be stuck in the 4.2-4.3 range to be stable, unfortunately. Though I have only loosely played around with the OC settings.
Having said that, everything but Zelda:TP runs full speed so far. Hyrule Field's still one of the most demanding areas in Dolphin, though I'd be curious to know how it runs at your speeds. 05-22-2014, 11:22 PM

If I did I could go way higher than 4.5 GHz. I have been running this for days now and It's has been pretty much confirmed to be stable at 4.5GHz 1.175v 05-27-2014, 07:19 AM
4.5Ghz @1.75v is very good. Put a high-end air heatsink on it and you should have no problem with 4.8GHz+
