Sorry to hear man. Is there anything that could of happened recently that caused your mom to have a breakdown? Sounds like my extended family and you want to know whats weird is that my Aunt lives in Georgia, used to live in Texas and has ties to Texas - she happens to be a religious nut. Doesn't practice what she preaches though, my aunt and my mom had a falling out. It would be cool to be related to someone on a forum and not even know it. Hey it can happen, I made a new friend online last year that lived in the same park as me.
I can empathize with you though. I know that if something isn't done it could become even worse to the point that intervention is needed. My mom was severely depressed last year, we didn't know it got so bad. She had racing thoughts or heard "voices' and she was considering committing suicide. She finally did what she needed to do and had my father to take her to check her in to the BHU and she was there for over a week. She is doing a bit better now and taking medications although she still seems depressed. I visit with my mother daily, check on her and keep her company. My parents are getting up there in years and I try to help them with whatever I can. I live behind them so I can be here to help them out.
I know you are going through a stressful time. However be there for your mom, she may need you. Be prepared for intervention and taking action if things don't improve so you can get your mom the help she needs so she can get better.
