I need A little help

So If you downloaded a rom, which for me i'm downloading Super Smash Brawl(4. 29GB); After I downloaded and put in my directory, do i need the actual game disc too in order for it to work, or can it work by itself?

Even you had the game, you're basically stealing a game from someone else by downloading it. It's not your game anymore, right?
