It was quite difficult to do with my Pokemon Ruby and Saphire teams. I was able to complete everything excpet for the lvl 100 Orre colloseum using strictly non legendaries which were bred and raised in Ruby and Saphire.
I was trying to do it withut using FR/LG or Emerald since those hadnt come out when Colloseum was released. Nintendo intended for the player to complete the Battle Mode using pokemon either from Colloseum or RS.
The pokemon i used where: Swampert, Salamence, Skarmory, Alakazam, Heracross, Milotic, Ludicolo, Metagross, Gardevoir and Sheninja. They didnt have the best natures since you couldnt breed for Natures in RS due to lacking Ditto and everstone mechanics. For example,Alakazam and Salamence had a Hasty nature but being special sweepers, the ideal natures would e Timid and Modest respectively.
My progress came to a stop at the lvl 100 Orre colloseum. I needed a better strategy to win that and of course, better pokemon. It was time for breeding.
I downloaded Leafe Green first and completed it in 3 days (im playing on an emulator and with the speedup and the right team i can fly through the game). The reason i ddi this was because i wanted to get Synchronize Abras in order to be able to manipulate wild Dittos natures in Emerald.
Now it was time for Emerald. I finished the game, cloned vitamins and rare candies and then traded Dittos and a couple of other pokemon from LG (Chansey and Ghastly). I started catching Dittos with my prefered natures and made sure to pick the ones with the best IVs for breeding.
The team i eded up with was:
Salamence (Lum Berry)
IVs: 30HP, 29ATK, 20DEF, 13SATK, 22SDEF, 30SPE
EVs: 144HP, 252ATK, 112SPE
Moves:
Aerial Ace
Brick Break
Rock SLide
Dragon Dance
Gengar (Cheri Berry):
IVs: 31HP, 12ATK, 14DEF, 27SATK, 20SDEF, 26SPE
EVs: 6HP, 252SATK, 252SPE
Moves:
Giga Drain
Thuderbolt
Psychic
Ice Punch (I grinded in the battle frontier to get this)
Skarmory (Chesto Berry):
IVs: 31HP, 25ATK, 23DEF, 8SATK, 23SDEF, 31SPE
EVs: 6ATK, 252HP, 252DEF
Moves:
Drill Peck
Rest
Spikes
Roar
Blissey (leftovers)
IVs: 25HP, 30DEF, 5ATK, 24SATK, 30SDEF, 27SPE
EVs: 252HP, 25DEF, 6SPE
Moves:
Seismic Toss
Thunder Wave
Flamethrower
Softboiled
Swampert (Shell Bell)
IVs: 31HP, 27AKT, 20DEF, 25SATK, 26SPE
EVs: 192HP, 216ATK, 100SATK
Moves:
Surf
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Protect
Metagross (Choice Band)
IVs: 27HP, 29ATK, 25DEF, 7SATK, 20SDEF, 26SPE
EVs: 128HP, 252ATK, 128SPE
Moves:
Meteor Mash
Shadow Ball
Explosion
Sludge Bomb
Now, it may seem like i have made a few odd choices like Skarmory, flamethrower Blissey and sludge bomb metagross but there is a reason behind all of them.
Skarmory can do spikes shuffling against a trainer who opens with Ninjasks. While they set up swrds dance to baton pass, i lay spikes on the ground and roar as sonn as they switch effectively ruining the setup. The trainer also uses a Wobbufet which is quite hard to take down in a straight fight so i burn it down with spikes+roar while also attacking the other pokemon with drill peck.
Flamethrower on Blissey has two very good uses: it deals with scizor and foretress and it also 2 shots a shiftry in a sunny day based team on the semifinal (i think).
Sludge Bomb is very import because it gets rid of Ludicolo who can be extremely dangerous with rain dance+hydro pump.
