It's-a-me again,

I finally decided not to OC my i5 3570k, and to get a hd7970 GPU, so i won't be going to 4,4ghz with the CPU until i buy a new PSU (probably something like 650 watts). Maybe i should have said it in the previous threads, but i'll only be playing Gamecube games, and according to many people on this forum (i've read a couple of threads), it seems it is hardly necessary to OC anything for GC games and i'd like you guys to confirm this. If, in the future, i really want to be playing wii games, then yeah, i'll probably change my psu and OC the i5, but until then the real question is : will i be fine with the stock value of the 3570k for GC games.

Thank you guys

Well it's wrong. A lot of GC games are really demanding and need an overclocked CPU to work properly. Now your 3570k should run most of these games at "decent" speed but not full-speed though. Moreover most of these games need LLE to get a correct sound

Yeah, you won't have problems with most GC games. If you have performance problem though, try "Accurate VBeam emulation". But note, that there are GC games which are very demanding and need LLE -> LLE needs (in most cases) an overclocked CPU.

I know about LLE, but i thought that with a 3570k, it would still be ok. Anyways, if i need to OC, i'll just have to get another PSU i suppose.
Now, for the games that i'll be playing:
-skies of arcadia
-tales of symphonia
-zelda twilight princess
-wind waker
-mario sunshine
-starfox adventures
-killer 7
-baten kaitos 1 and origin
-ff crystal chronicles
-metroid prime 1 and 2
-fzero gx
-viewtiful joe
-paper mario
-splinter cell
-eternal darkness
-fire emblem
-pikmin 1 and 2
-resident evil 0

for the graphics : internal resolution at 1920*1080, but i don't need anti aliasing or anything else, 1920*1080 is more than enough for me, i couldn't notice a difference between AA and no AA on this resolution on my actual PC. Is OC really necessary for LLE, even with these settings?

For these games you'll (preferably) need to overclock. Beacause either they're very demanding, either they require LLE, either both

You get a 20-30w increase for a 25% OC on the 3570K. As long as you dont touch the voltage you should be fine, trust me. Overclocking the GPU is increases the power envelope quite a bit though.
Just get a kill-o-watt reader and check how much your PC draws from the wall. multiply that by your PSU efficiency rating (x*0.85) and you get how much power your PSU is supplying. My PC draws 400w under extreme load (furmark + prime95) whish is about 62% of the PSU rated power: (400*0.85/550)

edit: I just noticed that you have a split 12v rail on your PSU. That isn't exactly ideal (for comparison my PSU has a single 12v rail supplying 41A = 492W) but you should still be fine as long as you dont OC with added voltage. Why say no to free performance gains?

About that list:

Tales of Symphonia - should run fine with no OC. Use the latest versions for the best audio quality; HLE audio is perfect for this game.
LoZ:TP - Dunno about this game, but a slight OC will definitely help.
Star Fox Adventures - IIRC, both GC Star Fox games are demanding. You'll want an OC.
Paper Mario:TTYD - should be fine with no OC. Same as Tales of Symphonia, HLE will work fine.
Metroid Prime - I haven't tested the latest revisions, but HLE should give you good audio. That said, it's still a demanding games. A slight OC may be necessary to play this at fullspeed constantly.
FF:Crystal Chronicles - Probably won't need an OC.
F-Zero GX - OC or else. This game is demanding.

The rest, I'm not familiar with. Look them up on the Dolphin Wiki and see what kind of performance similar configurations get, then extrapolate and guesstimate :p
