You need a sensorbar in order to point on things.

Yes.

You just need some batteries for the wireless sensorbar.

I have a wireless sensorbar i bought from mono price. Mines white with the power button in the middle front of the bar. everything seems to work but I can't point at anything. Using r7719M.
Do I have to have wii motion plus?

Motion plus isn't necessary. Sometimes the bars are quite cheap (like mine) and work badly. First of all check if it is actually working (take a camera, or a mobile with a camera, film the bar on the sides and look if you can see the IR leds), secondly, get yourself to a distance of 1 m, start to point at the bar and move.

Edit: I forgot, if you doubt your bar works, you can always try to lit 2 candles, put them in front of your monitor (at a safe distance) at around 30cm from one another and use them as a sensor bar (works better in a dim-lit room).
