It keeps telling me that "Slot A has changed" even though I didn't mess with the memory cards.

There's my save state.

Pokemon Colosseum and XD are very picky about their save files, and using save states can mess it up. Usually happens if you take a save state, save in-game, and then reload your save state and try to save again.

I'm pretty sure you have no other choice except to load up your last in-game save to get your save file working again.

Some games have anti-emulation mechanisms which will fuck up your in game save if you start mixing in savestates. I believe those two pokemon games are a couple of them.

There's nothing you can do anymore unfortunately. I would just continue to play with savestates and just pray that doesn't get corrupted even though relying on only savestates is generally a bad idea.

Not an option to keep playing, since that means "get to the credits, be unable to save, waste even more time than currently".

Wow. I had no idea the GC was like that. Usually emulation is more convenient than the real console but I guess there has to be exceptions periodically :/

It's still more convenient than the real hardware though... higher resolution, HD/4k texture packs, the ability to use unlimited memory or SD cards, your personal preferred controller, have a great cheat device, and so on... It's just that some games don't like you saving at any random point in the game (compared to ingame-saves) because that would mean it would break the gameplay experience and since some games are able to communicate to each other to transfer stuff (e.g. pokemon) it would be possible to get a fully decked out pokedex without putting real effort into it that could transfer all the way up to the switch.
Check my profile for up to date specs.

It's not anti-emulation, fwiw. It's anti-duping due to the games supporting Pokemon Box, which can transfer to mainline games.

Pokémon Colosseum/XD have mainline game connectivity on their own, not though Pokémon Box. But yes, that is the probable reason.

Oh, I didn't realize you could directly trade them in. The only way I've ever done it is through Pokemon Box.

Huh, so Pokémon Box can actually transfer Pokémon directly with Colosseum/XD? Then I guess I learned something today too Smile
