Again, do not touch anything else and move on to the next step, even if you think it is innocuous, don't touch anything else please.
4. Use Open and select your ISO of mario galaxy, and run it. Note that your save is not there. Close the game. (we have to run it once for the next step, keep going)
5. In the menu bar, go to Tools > Import Wii Save and import your mario galaxy save from earlier.
6. Run the game, your save should be there. Open a level that shows the hud, and take a screenshot. We'll call that "Screenshot 1". Keep that to post here on the forum later.
7. Close Dolphin. Again, do not touch any settings. Now navigate to your custom user directory (default [username]/Documents/Dolphin Emulator) and copy the Load folder to your clipboard. Go back to where your Dolphin exe is and note the new User folder there. Open it and you'll find the same structure that you found in the global user directory. Paste the Load folder from your clipboard over the one here, and this should move a bunch of files. This is where the custom textures you have installed live, and now they live in the user folder too.
8. Load Dolphin. Go to Graphics > Advanced and Enable Custom Texture. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS AND CLOSE THE GRAPHICS WINDOW. (you would not believe how many people change settings in this step and mess this kind of stuff up, just do nothing else ok)
9. Run Mario Galaxy, and get to a spot with the HUD. Take a screenshot there, let's call it Screenshot 2.
10. Post Screenshot 1 and Screenshot 2 here on the forum and let's see your results.
Once you are sure you no longer need this test setup and want to restore your original configuration and settings, just delete Portable.txt. You can also delete the User folder if you so please, but once portable.txt is removed Dolphin will no longer use it.
Everything works like so.
The aspect ratio is in the proper format this way.
Both custom textures on and off.
However, I noticed that this only works with the portable.txt file in the exe folder.
When removing the text file to restore all my original configs, the game's aspect ratio is back to being all stretched out again.
So I guess this theory doesn't properly fix this situation since I can't keep all my configurations this way.
Isn't there another way to fix the aspect ratio all the while making sure all my configs and game saves aren't tampered or erased?
