I Can't Get Mario Galaxy to be Displayed in 16:9 Aspect Ratio
|
Well, I'm still not sure what is causing this stretching. So let's do the severe route.
First, make note of all your settings, screenshot them, write them down, whatever you prefer. Both Config and Graphics. Go to your Global User Directory/Config and rename GFX.ini to something like, GFX.bak or something. Then open Dolphin and run mario galaxy. If it is not stretched, then go through the settings and reapply your old settings one at a time while testing each time. Yes, one by one. Change a setting, run mario galaxy and check it, then change another setting and try that. Repeat. If/when it stretches again, you'll know what did it. If the above does not affect anything, so it is still stretched immediately after renaming GFX.ini, then do the same process with Dolphin.ini. You may need to reconfigure your paths and stuff, but the idea is the same, change as little as possible, run mario galaxy, then change settings from there, testing each time. Then write the results of this here of course! I'm very curious what the source of this issue really is. My guess is you have a custom (user) Mario Galaxy GameINI that forces the aspect ratio to 4:3 for some reason. Can you check that? Right-click Mario Galaxy in the game list, go to Properties, then under the Game Config tab switch to the Editor sub-tab and show us what's there, if anything.

This is what's been causing the stretched aspect ratio problem. It turns out that this 'Widescreen' setting was set to 'False.' Changing it from 'False' to 'True' fixes this whole issue. I checked to make sure if this was the case and yes it was. The game finally plays in the proper ratio settings now! So you were right. It was a custom GameINI setting that forced the aspect ratio to stay 4:3. I checked to make sure if every other Wii game in my inventory has custom settings like this. Strangely enough, none of them have a custom setting like so or any custom settings at all. It's only Galaxy that has this custom setting within it. Thanks so much for helping me fix this issue! 12-19-2021, 06:57 AM

I found out the cause of this situation from someone else in this thread and posted the results from there. I was able to fix it and everything works again now. I won't be needing to go through this route. Thanks a lot for all your help! |
