I can only connect 3 wiimotes - 4 causes problems

So I just broke my leg. Can't get up and around to find all my wiimotes right now. but at least with the emulated wiimotes, i can get 4 of them connected and working. And i was having the same problems with emulated wiimotes as i was with real wiimotes, so I'm assuming this this fix also works with them.

and that was version 3 -141 that i replaced
