Thanks so much for the half res version, it's beautiful and fixed my prefetch issues on linux dolphin-emu. Thanks a ton for your time and effort Bighead.

Resolution values decreased by half, in total, 75% reduction in pixel count and RAM requirement: Hello Bighead, I have been trying desperately to find this post. You uploaded a downscaled pack for Hypatia's Wind Waker, and it was the most awesome thing in the world. I wanted to ask you if you would be willing to reupload this one more time. I accidentally forgot to back it up when I was moving my files for dolphin on android. Basically, this is the only texture pack I've ever gotten to work on android for Wind Waker. I've got 8 gb of RAM on my galaxy s10+, and your downscaled pack worked flawlessly. I archived all of my dolphin files and thought I had already backed up the archive but did not. I'm so mad at myself right now. I tried the google drive link but it was dead. Edit: Sorry, but I think I've actually just found it on my external hard drive. Sometimes I backup things multiple times because I forgot about them. I should find out in about 5 minutes if it works. Second Edit: Don't bother upload it, because I still have this pack. I put the texture pack back on my android, and it tries to load it, but nothing is working. I mistakenly updated to Android 12, and Dolphin's sound is now broken for the speaker. Works for headphones but not speaker, but I get a "read error" when trying to load the game, ONLY that one. It IS a custom ISO. It's BetterWindWaker. Sorry to be so off-topic. If I fix it, I will go maybe post the fix in the appropriate place.
It is still online, it's the "DDS (Half Size)" pack on the first post. The link is still alive.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qBK8YOe...Klgj7/view Edit: To everyone else. For an updated "Android Pack" you can grab that here: Android Texture Packs: Resolution x4: Download Link Resolution x3: Download Link • The "Android Resolution x4" pack has been slashed to a maximum of 4x the size of the original texture resolution. Total RAM to prefetch: 4.07GB • The "Android Resolution x3" pack has been slashed to a maximum of 3x the size of the original texture resolution. Total RAM to prefetch: 2.27GB Do not download the pack in the below post! It is v1.0 of this pack and is missing a ton of textures! Check either the first post or above for an updated android pack. The size is WAY too large to load due to the amount of memory it takes up in RAM. The filename of the correct one is WWHDTP.ZIP. I just uploaded it to MediaFire, and the link is below. You made this, so its up to you if you would like the link here or not. In case you don't have it anymore, I just want to make it available to you. With creating this, you helped me a lot and several other people who play wind waker on android. I know Hypatia created the original pack, but you somehow batch-converted all the images and made this work on android flawlessly. Genius! And by the way, thank you for this, and I also managed to pick up a downscaled pack for twilight princess years ago. I want to learn how to downscale texture packs so I can use them on android, like the 4k Super Mario 64 pack. It's nice on PC but crashes on my phone (yes I absolutely did try!) One last thing, it just now occurred to me that someone else may have made this. If you are not the person who made this, then I apologize. I just know for sure I saw this on a forum years ago. https://www.mediafire.com/file/b7kle52bc...P.zip/file
I think you are misunderstanding, just because the one I linked is larger in file size, does not mean it's going to consume more VRAM. Have you tried it? The pack you linked is not a half size pack and is missing over 2500 textures compared to the latest version. I checked the resolution of the textures in the pack you linked against the resolution of the textures in the latest "full size" pack and they are mostly identical. The pack you linked is also in PNG and JPG format, which takes 2-4x more VRAM than DDS. I'm not even sure if Dolphin still loads JPG format, so you may be missing even more textures.
This is the VRAM consumption of the pack you linked: This is the VRAM consumption of the half size pack I linked. As you can see, just because DDS is large in file size, it does not mean it is large in VRAM. In fact, the VRAM is = to the file size (minus headers). The pack I linked is almost half the size in VRAM despite having +2500 more textures. Textures that are compressed for storage (PNG/JPG) are not optimized for usage on the GPU like DDS is and need to be decoded. Honestly there is no reason to keep that version of the pack around as its a downgrade in every way. It's old/out of date, missing many textures, has texture bugs (lava, lack of arb mipmaps, more), is a memory hog, and not entirely in a correct format. And if the JPG files are not loading, it means you missing even more textures (and missing even more VRAM consumption). If you are curious why the pack you linked is much greater in size than the DDS half-size pack (when it comes to actual VRAM usage), this post has some information that can help. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-cu...#pid521037 Edit: The one drawback is that the textures in the current "half-size" pack are in DDS BC7 format which not all devices may support. I have never used Dolphin on Android so I'm not sure if it's supported there, or if it's even possible to support it there. In that case, you would need a PNG pack, but no "half-size" PNG pack exists. If this is the case, I wouldn't mind creating one of the latest version so users who want to use it there are not forced to use that old pack. 01-22-2022, 07:10 PM

Dolphin only supports BC7 if the GPU supports it in hardware, and most mobile GPUs (Adreno, Mali, PowerVR...) don't. In practice, if you're using Android on a phone or tablet, BC7 will not work. But it does work on the Nvidia Shield TV. |
