Yes, cards with HDMI have sound chips, and do carry up to 5 channels of sound.

Also, XFX is probably one of the best AMD card resellers out there, especially with the lifetime warranty.

The 650 and 7750 perform similarly.
Whichever one you use is a matter of preference.

i appreciate all the information you have given me tonight.

i'm still confused on the PSU usage though. i understand that during most moments, the gpu won't be using 400w or whatever. but combine an HDD, 55w CPU and a dedicated GPU that says 400minimum watt PSU, how can a 300w PSU handle all of those during peak power?

All of those are the worst case scenario.
Especially in the case of the 7750.

You likely won't see anywhere near that much wattage unless you plan on stress testing.

im thinking about going with the original case that you posted because of the higher wattage psu

Put that case on its side and you have a decent HTPC.
Tongue

But yes, that PSU would be a little better.

power consumption didn't look too bad here.

Yes.

Also, that's the 650 TI.
That model actually consumes about 20w more power than the 650 on average, so you're covered.

Consumers are dumb. They won't accept "it depends" as an answer even though it's the correct answer. So these companies have to make up a meaningless magic number to slap on the box. The power supply requirement listed on the box is estimate based on what they consider a "typical PC" with "average parts". It's really oriented more towards high end gaming PCs though and is extremely conservative. Use a power calculator instead to calculate your power requirements.

Not all of them. Newer cards with HDMI support will support audio output over HDMI but not all cards with HDMI support do.
