I can't even get my 3.2U file system dump working with Dolphin. I dumped it straight from my Wii, whenever I try to boot it in Dolphin I get a black screen.

I originally had system menu/firmware 3.4U, but downgraded to 3.2U when I set homebrew up on my Wii.

I never understood why I was getting a black screen when trying to boot a copy of my Wii System Menu I dumped from my Wii, until today that is..

I finally did it, I got the Wii menu working with Dolphin.

I had to use NUS downloader to download the Wii System Menu 3.2u update from Nintendo, then I installed it with the wad manager. I then proceeded to dump it from my Wii to my PC using Wanikoko's file system dumper.

Once I transferred it via FTP to my PC, and copied the files to the Dolphin /User/Wii folder being careful not to overwrite the SYSCONF file, voila a working Wii menu on Dolphin. Big Grin

I also dumped my masterkey.bin from my Wii even though it's not needed, also dumped my nand-key.bin in case it might be needed by Dolphin in the future.

It must of been all of the IOS's I installed, or that Pre-loader application that was causing the Wii menu not to work with Dolphin.

nand key is varies key. I don't think it requires by dolphin in future.
It does something like encrypt filesystem or copy protection save. Not sure.

The nand key is useful to have. I'd love it if Dolphin could emulate the nand using a raw dump and the encryption key directly, without having to extract it. Mainly, that's because the extraction tools aren't that great, and the dumping tools (excepting the bootmii one, which I've learned dumps *with* ecc, making it harder to work with) don't always dump completely.

Nintendo's updates to the IOS have resulted in a lot of incomplete dumps because the IOS now usually blocks NAND access in certain areas. This means that especially for post Oct23 updated Wii, the filesystem dumpers may or may not actually work as expected, I've yet to get a complete dump from one.

Thanks a lot. However, I've yet to know if this works... I've had to wade through all of my files and tell them to stop sharing before I can copy them over. It's really tiresome, but I hope it works.

Now reading in later posts, it seems that I may have an incomplete dump, because I have the latest firmware... Will I be OK? How do I know if it's complete or not?

I spent the last two days trying to get a working NAND dump from the original BootMii NAND dump.

I'm still not sure my dump works, but at least Dolphin boots the Wii OS. However no channels appear, but it seems that that is normal as people above report the same problem.

The reason I have been trying is that I wanted to play Brawl+, which requires being launched through the Gecko application. However it gave me the error "IOS36 not detected" and so could not launch the game. I thought that dumping my Wii's file system would get this working, but this still does not work.

If anyone wants to try it out to check if it does the same for them, all you have to do is download Gecko here http://brkirch.googlepages.com/Gecko191.zip and then ask dolphin to launch the boot.elf file. Then once the Gecko menu loads, change disc and choose the SSBB image, then press Launch Game.

At this point Gecko complains "This Game Requires IOS 36, IOS Not Found on Disc". If you've got five minutes and have Brawl, I'd appreciate it if you could check if the same error happens to you!

Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you out Xed as I don't have SSBB. What I am posting about is the only use I've found so far for the Wii OS and I'm not sure if this is known or not, but when you load the OS up once, then you can play Wii Sports and save with a named Mii. You cannot create a Mii, but you can pick one that is named and save with it.
