I linked to it beforehand Though I probably didn't make it prominent enough. It stands for Burst-Cutting Area, and it's a small barcode that gets put onto discs when they're pressed for production. It's writing using a different laser than what's available in consumer-grade CD/DVD drives. Without that, the GC/Wii will reject games and fail to boot them. Like I said, if you had a commercial-grade disc duplicator, you probably stand a better chance at making 1:1 copies that would be accepted on real unmodded consoles. This is all concerning how to write discs, not read them though. The BCA isn't necessary for dumping the game itself, although homebrew like CleanRip can still dump the BCA for users.

I hope that this information is useful,
my cd/dvd drive Matashi/DVD-RAM UJ8D8/8.51 Works with Friidump Does not work with Rawdump 2.1
Are there any working disk drives that use a SATA connection rather than ATA? I see there's a USB2 one but that it's rather slow.
Additionally, is there a way to dump Wii games with a Wii without softmodding the console? By that I mean, I exploit my Wii to execute a homebrew program but not have it install anything on my Wii and just dump the disk? Is it any faster than dump via PC? 03-30-2014, 02:14 PM
The OP's link appears to no longer direct to the right software, but in lieu of googling for it, I figured I'd ask:
I also use PCSX2 and have ripped games with imgburn. Will this work for Gamecube/Wii titles to use in Dolphin? Imgburn is not capable of dumping GC/Wii games from what I know of. RawDump/FriiDump are the only comparable (non-homebrew) programs I know that can dump GC/Wii games. 04-11-2014, 03:51 PM
I'm not sure if anyone else has come across this, but I had some trouble getting Friidump 0.4 to work under Windows 7 x64. I connected a USB LG GDR-8082N and started ripping, but Friidump.exe would crash before the rip even reached 1% in modes 2, 3, and 4. Mode 1 seemed to work, but that might just be because it's so slow that I didn't give it enough time to reach the point where the other modes crashed. I checked the Windows error log, and I found a slew of Event ID 7 "bad block" errors reported by the drive.
I then removed the disc and the drive, connected the drive to my XP laptop, inserted the disc, and Friidump happily did its thing at speed 4. My ISO checksums also match those stored on Redump.org, so the drive and disc are definitely not to blame. If there is a problem with Friidump that prevents it from working under Windows 7, perhaps the fact that it's open source means that somebody will be able to fix it, so I thought I'd mention it here, in case anyone else has had a similar experience. 04-29-2014, 08:31 AM
Crap!
I'm using Dolphin, and I want to dump my Wii disc (specifically SSB Brawl). I downloaded Rawdump.exe (2.1), but when I tried to "Start Dump," it gave me the following error message: "Error!! You might have a faulty drive!!" My drive is TSSTcorpCDDVDW SU208FB TF01 What do I do to get this to work? 04-29-2014, 09:49 AM
If your drive isn't supported, there isn't much you can do unfortunately. I don't see your drive listed as working in the original post of this thread. Did you perhaps see it listed as working somewhere else? Do keep in mind that the list of supported drives is really slim, so if it isn't listed, more likely than not it's not going to work with RawDump.
