Unfortunately, not all bluetooth dongles will work with dolphin and the wiimote, which can be very frustrating. This is a guide for an alternate way to connect wii controllers to dolphin. It is not 100% perfect but most of the functionality will work.

Overview:

We will install a driver that lets the Wiimote act as an HID game controller and connect that to an emulated wiimote in dolphin.

Directions:

1. Go to http://julianloehr.de/educational-work/hid-wiimote/ and download the version of the gamepad driver for your computer.

2. Follow the instructions for installing on the website. It will also go over connecting a wiimote so make sure you have one successfully connected for the next step.

3. Open dolphin and select the controller menu. On the wiimote list, select emulated wiimote from the drop down list. Then click the configure button next to it to open the configure window.

4. On the drop down labeled Device, select your wiimote (It will be called Nintendo something. If there are multiple wiimotes connected, they will be listed by number).

5. Set each button on the window to the corresponding button on the controller.  When you are done, I recommend saving a profile to configure any other wiimotes faster.

That's it! The wiimote should now work in the emulator. If you have any questions, post them here and I will try my best to answer them.

Special thanks to Julian Löhr for his awesome driver that makes all this possible.

Um... That's incorrect. Almost all bluetooth adapters on windows use the MS bluetooth stack, and while the MS bluetooth stack is not perfect it works with Real Wiimote just fine. And the method you are outlining here still uses the MS bluetooth stack - it just bypasses Dolphin's connectivity and relies on a third party program. It also forces the player to set up the very complicated emulated wiimote controls for things that are completely automatic on RealWiimote...

It's just... what advantage does this give to Dolphin users? This program is meant to improve the experience of Wiimotes outside of Dolphin, where it is sorely needed! Glovepie is the standard here, and it's awful, with all kinds of connectivity issues on the MS bluetooth stack. That is what this program is for and where it really helps! But for Dolphin users it doesn't seem like it would help anyone...

EDIT: Ohhhh, it works with -TR wiimotes, on the MS Bluetooth Stack? Wow, now THAT is useful! Now I see what you meant! It would allow someone to use the -TR wiimote without a dolphinbar to the toshiba stack. Very nice! That ability is really really awesome, I thought that was impossible! I'm going to email him and see if he'd be willing to help us. This has some really good potential...

Hmm... I was using this to connect regular wiimotes actually Confused. I could not get dolphin to successfully scan for them with two different dongles and I couldn't find anything online that was helpful. But yeah this would definitely help with the wiimote plus issue!
EDIT: Figured out why the wiimote didn't work, its connected now.

Has there been any progress with this? It would be super awesome being able to use the MS stack to connect my -tr wiimote. Toshiba stack doesn't want to play nice with my new Atheros Qualcom BT chip in my laptop.
