could someone quickly explain which setup is the best with my setup
like what graphics plugin do i use (DX9 or OGL) etc etc what options do i turn off
oh and also, i seem to only have low fps in metroid prime games..
smash bros melee is fine lol
(and im talking about gamecube games if that matters)

EDIT: im using rev 5039 with windows xp sp3

Here is newer and more detailed one:

1. Open config (click wrench icon in toolbar)
2. Check:
-Enable dual core
-Enable idle skipping
-JitIL experimental compiler (select JIT compiler if you have problems)
3. Switch to plugins

Now you have to choose between Direct3D and OpenGL. For most people Direct3D is faster, but for some people is OpenGL faster. I suggest you test both and see which works better for you.

Direct3D:
4. select Dolphin Direct3D as graphics plugin.
5. Click config button next to graphics plugin selection.
6. Set anti-alias mode to none
7. Switch to enhancments
8. uncheck everything here except efb scalled copy
9. Switch to advanced
10. Uncheck everything except Enable EFB copy and Overlay FPS counter if you want
11. Select "To texture" under EFB copy settings

OpenGL:
4. select Dolphin OpenGL as graphics plugin.
5. Click config button next to graphics plugin selection.
5. Set antistrophic to 1x
6. Set antialias to off
7. Switch to advanced
8. Uncheck everything except Copy EFB to GL texture and overlay FPS if you want

When you done, just click ok in all windows to save settings.

If you still dont get enough speed, you can try disabling audio emulation.
1. Open DSP settings (speaker icon on toolbar)
2. Uncheck everything
3. Click OK

good guide, unfortunately for me it didnt really do anything (DX9 runs better than OGL though.. but i was using DX9 anyways haha)
ill just have to put up with it and use frame skipper
rev 4771 ran prime a lot better than this rev i have to say
although 4771 seems to crash a lot.. hmmm meh ill put up with this rev then lol

The best option I can think of is to run windows update and update ur direct x and video card driver as well.

install windows 7 x64.

and buy another cpu Wink

joke...

installing win7 x64 should do it.

it's only that your cpu is not good for emulating dolphin.

you need to go to the bios and disable the HT.
so you will only have 4 cores in taskmanager but the speed should be a bit better.
because 1. dolphin will not run in 1 core only accidently (1 core and 1 HT-core are still only 1 core)
and 2. your cores will have twice the l2-cache as they do now.

core i7 is worse than a core2duo when it comes to emulation
i have fullspeed in all games i tested.

This is the first time I've heard anyone say that a corei7 is worse then a core2duo in emulation lol. If you turn off your hyperthreading you will get good fps curto or should.

Well that is probably more due to my core 2 being oced higher and dolphin utilizing only 2 cores. Even with that said, you made a pretty wild claim to just say the i7 is worst in emulation. This is not the first thread you even stated this. Apparently you don't like the i7 but throwing out unfactual statements is not good either. If anything the i7 has a higher bus speed better fsb memory management compared to core 2 duo and a better cache system then the core 2 duo but don't really know how real world that would be in dolphin.

All this is to say, don't make little jabs at saying something is worst or better just to speculate.

haha yeah to be honest i was using windows 7 x64 BEFORE but my boot files stuffed up so im back to xp temporarily. not to mention usually my i7 is clocked at 3.8ghz but my big heatsink kinda stuffed up.. long story lol so im back on the stock cooler. anyways coincidentally enough i was actually going to update my gpu drivers today cause i heard ati has already released the 10 series.. man they pump the drivers out haha ok well i will try that stuff like 7 again and turn off HT.. and i think i was actually getting way better fps on that other rev BECAUSE i was on 7 at the time.. i knew the OS had something to do with it

thanks guys
