IMO soldering the Regulator is easiest part so I would go for it and have BT powered from USB.

About the sync - original Wii BT needs sync only once, then it remembers pairing.
It means that after You connect it to PC, You need to press "Sync" in dolphin and red button on Wii Mote, but next time You just press 1+2 and it connects without problems, so You may consider that "red button sync" is just "one time" ...

Thanks for the answer!
Do you use a heatsink for the regulator?

So I will also build  the orginal Wii BT unit, because with my generic USB BT Dongle/Stick (CSRxxxxxxx from the wik compability list) I have to pair(using the red button) everytime I start dolphin. Perphaps it's just a confirguration topic, but I have already tried a lot of diffrent drivers (at the moment WINUSB via the zagig tool). I thought the 1+2 sync only works with the -TR remotes.

No - I don't use heatsink ... BT module don't use much power so regulator isn't overheat ... You can solder, turn it on and play for 1-2h and touch regulator to be sure.

Hello,

i've build my own Wii-BT-Stick. The first sync was fast and stable. All is great, but if change the game or start dolphin again, i lost my connection and i can not easy by pushing A or 1+2 connect. I need do every time a new sync, but then, every works very well, until the Remote disconnect.

What's wrong?

Which Wii BT module do You have - WML-C43 or J27H002?
Also - try to delete Wii/shared2/sys/SYSCONF and Wii/btdinf.bak like in wiki:

Does anybody know what the connector on the Wii motherboard is called? Could we purchased a similar connector for creating our own boards? (ie. voltage regulator, capacitor, usb connector, and then the connector to attach the Wii module without having to solder to those pads)

Here is the first functional prototype board:

Next we're going to make some changes to the design, primarily giving it a USB A connector, moving some components and make some adjustments for a 3D printed casing. Then we will get a quote from an automated assembly partner and we can hold a fundraiser to see if there is enough interest to produce a large batch.
